message from the General Coordinator of the Local Organising Committee

Mrs Géraldine MPOUMA LOGMO
General Coordinator of the Local Organising Committee
Dear partners, delegates, and advocates for water and sanitation,
It is with deep commitment and great pride that I address you as the General Coordinator of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 23rd AfWASA International Congress and Exhibition, to be held in Yaoundé from 9th to 13th February 2026, under the theme: “Water and Sanitation for All: Bold Actions for Africa”.
The LOC has been established in line with AfWASA standards. It brings together key national institutions, including CAMWATER, the Ministry of
Water Resources and Energy, the City of Yaoundé, security forces, as well as representatives from the private sector, universities, and civil society. Together, we are coordinating technical, logistical, protocol, and institutional efforts to ensure the success of this major continental event.
The 2026 Congress carries profound historical and symbolic weight, marking Cameroon’s return to the pan-African water stage, three decades after hosting in 1996. This new edition introduces major innovations: the first-ever Academic Forum, a Youth Space promoting African start-ups in alignment with National Youth Day (11 February), and a dedicated public-private dialogue session with GECAM.
Preparations are progressing satisfactorily. The scientific programme centres on calls for papers addressing tangible actions towards SDG 6 and innovation. The exhibition, spanning over 4,000 m² at the Yaoundé Conference Centre, will feature two 2,000 m² halls, a 1,500-seat plenary room, and flexible spaces. The event will feature official ceremonies, technical sessions, as well as technical and cultural visits, all designed to showcase Cameroon’s heritage.
We are working tirelessly to welcome participants in optimal conditions for work, comfort, and safety.
Yaoundé, the city of seven hills, opens its arms to you. Come and experience an exceptional professional, human, and cultural event at the heart of Africa in miniature.
On behalf of the entire LOC team, I warmly welcome you to Cameroon, a land of hospitality and commitment to a sustainable future for water and sanitation in Africa.
